Significantly improve the authoring experience for some of the most valuable reports in Workday to increase customer and user satisfaction.

Big Idea
What if we could dramatically improve the process of creating and maintaining Composite Reports? What are the best ways to do that?

Challenge
Should we re-think the entire experience or make incremental improvements? What will give us the biggest user value return on our resource investment?

Result
Over three releases, we reduced the time time it took to create and maintain reports by 60%, far exceeding our goal of 45%.

Team
I worked with a core team of a PM, principal engineer, and engineering manager. We worked with 20 engineers and I mentored two designers over the 18 month project.

Lesson
Clearly defining the objective and constraints allowed us to create consensus both inside the project team and up the leadership chain.
